It was the first Django Girls workshop in Hyderabad and the event is organized by us in Aug 2016. I’m organiser and speaker of the workshop. Total 21 applicants are registered for the event and 5 applicants are attended for the event because we have less time to organize this event. For further events, we have created it before 2 months of an event and it increases the number of attendees. Our primary goal is to spread the Django Girls all over the world and to step more women into the programming world. Here I’m going to share our first Django Girls event experience, The event venue was sponsored by Micropyramid. Total 3 Mentors leads the workshop and each mentor was assigned to 2 applicants. Our event is all about Python and Django Basics for only Girls and it’s more like a hands-on workshop. Before 1 week of the event, we have prepared a documentation for all the attendees. Which contains “How to develop Sample application by using Django Framework” with all the scenarios. We taught them Django Basic Architecture, HTML, Django Template Language, Django Models, CRUD operations using Django ORM. Women from several backgrounds have attended this event like Students, Employees. All the participants are able to build the sample application by end of the event with the help of mentor’s & documentation.  I’ve learned a lot by organising/conducting Django girls workshops

  • Improved learning standards
  • Both students and employees have participated in our workshop. So, we had a great day with them by sharing programming standards, Django girls community etc. with them. It’s really a new experience for us because usually, we will interact with employees only like in meetings or any training sessions. But in this workshop, we got an opportunity to communicate with students also and to provide real-time programming experiences with them.

We have hired a student (on behalf of Micropyramid) from that workshop by knowing her enthusiasm to do programming stuff <3 It was really an awesome workshop and we would like to say big thanks to the Django Girls team for starting it and giving us a chance to organize Django Girls Hyderabad event.

Django Girls is a non-profit that teaches programming to women all around the world. Want to help us? Support us!
