Django Girls Impact Report 2016-2017

As we are still celebrating our third birthday, we are very excited to announce the release of our Impact Report 2016 - 2017. In this report, we share the amazing work our volunteers have been doing to impact the lives of many women across the globe by introducing them to programming through our workshops.

We also carried out a survey to check how the ladies were doing after attending the Django Girls workshop and we got very exciting findings!

We had a high response rate of 519 women participating in our survey and the majority of these were doing pretty well. While we understand that the results could have been positively skewed because it is possible that the ones who responded were mainly those who continued in tech after attending the workshop, we are still proud of the impact we have made as Django Girls.

Below are some of the highlights from our Impact Report 2016 - 2017:

  • Over 10,000 women have attended Django Girls workshops.
  • 21% of participants in our survey now working as developers.
  • 73 % are still involved in tech activities.
  • 79% are still learning to code.

Just think, if you’ve been involved in Django Girls on any level, then you were a part of that :)

We couldn’t have done this without the help of our awesome sponsors; Elastic, Potato, Lincoln Loop, DjangoStars, GitHub, The Python Software Foundation, Divio, Oddbird, Pythonanywhere, MailChimp, and the Django Software Foundation.
