The Python/Django community is amazing! ❤

This blog post was written by Kátia Nakamura and was first published in Portuguese on her blog. Thank you Kátia!❤️

Today, I just wanna say thank you! ❤

It was amazing days in Budapest and see the photos of the Conference made me think about everything I passed through till I get here. Django Girls São José dos Campos was the first event I attended in November of 2015 - I didn’t know how to code in Python or even know about Django but I met a lot of known people - Fernando Masanori Ashikaga, Tony Lampada and Júlio César Eiras.

After meeting this amazing community, I went to Rio de Janeiro to be a coach at Django Girls Rio de Janeiro and I did a talk about my history since my first attendance at the event in São José dos Campos. Also, I met more people who I first met in São José dos Campos - Paula Grangeiro, Annanda Sousa and Rafaela Santos among many others who I had the opportunity to talk at that day.

After that, a unique opportunity to participate to DjangoCon Europe 2016 - for free - in Budapest by event’s support to pay my flight tickets - whose only 20 people in the whole world were chosen.

Special opportunity to first meet Ola Sendecka and Ola Sitarska, founders of Django Girls - Ola Sendecka also has a youtube channel called “Coding is for girls” - and I had the chance to talk to them.

I also had the experience to be a coach in Django Girls Budapest and I met fantastic people - the organizers Dori Czapari, Szilvia Kadar and Daniella Korossy and Mikey Ariel who had a talk at Django Girls Budapest and one of the best talks at DjangoCon, in my opinion - and have them as inspiration.

And my team during the Django Girls Budapest, Juci Kisistók and Eszter Viczián who I could help before and during the event.

Today I’m working at Kiwi.com in Brno, Czech Republic and I’m part of the first Django’s Team of the company. Then, the opportunity to organize the Django Girls Brno with Natali Debosque arose. :) She works with me on the team and she asked me to help her. The event will be at the end of October of 2016 and I’m very excited to this new challenge.

Besides all, I wanna thank all those people who I mentioned and many others who I didn’t but I met somehow during this period.

As I always say, the Python/Django community is amazing and I’m very happy to be part of it. ❤
